Bethany Burns writes fiction for herself and ghostwrites for other authors and publishers. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, a tintype photographer, and their young son, in an apartment over a park that inspired Ivy Park. Before she was writing full-time, she spent years editing and ghostwriting everything under the sun. She's drawn to old libraries in far off lands, villains that haunt you for days after you finish a story, and anything with a little quirky humor in it – though she's just as likely to be caught laughing at herself as brooding over a manuscript.
CurrentlyPublishing Tales from Ivy Park — one chapter at a time with readers along from the start, so they don't have to wait years for the whole book.
I.
Ivy Park is a small town full of love stories, the kind you'd want to rewatch every fall. It's the foundation of a larger series — and eventually, a cozy mystery world set in the same town, with familiar faces turning up in new corners.
New chapters go up every Friday on Substack, with early looks at the world on Threads.
II.
Bethany ghostwrites fiction — full novels, written to match your voice rather than her own, from first outline to final page.
If you have a story that needs a writer who can disappear into it, she'd like to hear about it.
A running postscript
Personal essays, real-life mishaps, and the occasional unhinged tangent — published every Wednesday. It's the closest thing to Bethany's actual voice you'll find online.
